Our Services

Family Services

Wells of Hope Ministries, Inc. provides short-term relief for families in times of emergencies, hardships and those with special needs. The program provides relief through its food pantry, emergency needs and educational departments.

Among families that have a school age child who is a low achiever and/or handicapped, there is a need for services that will help reduce the risk of dropouts, drug involvement and gang related activities. Also, effort will be made to enhanced social and coping skills of children and family members; improve family interactions; and, reduce feelings of stress, isolation, and depression among families.

WHM provides families the relief they need to stay healthy and to continue to provide at home care and safety. Additionally, WHM provides free income tax services and transportation for handicapped individuals.

The Reverend Henry Ewing Jr. Cancer Foundation

The Henry Ewing Council Foundation was created by the Hopewell
Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in partnership with The Wells
of Hope Ministries, Inc. in 2019. The Foundation was created in memory of
the late Reverend Henry Ewing, Jr. because of his service rendered to the
Shoals area, the Florence Presbytery, the Alabama Synod, and the
Cumberland Presbytery Church in America. Reverend Ewing and his family
rendered service over and above to the Hopewell CPCA for 35 years.
Reverend Ewing, being a victim of cancer, we created this Foundation to
assist those who are also affected by this disease. The Foundation provides
opportunities for cancer screening, transportation to doctors, and donations
to local and national cancer foundations.
We invite the public to participate in this endeavor by giving donations to
this Foundation. Please make checks payable to Wells of Hope Ministries,
Inc. and place on the memo line “Henry Ewing Foundation”.

Senior Program

Our program is a two dimensional in service. The first service area is for the 55+ age group. It is our intent to service this population’s educational and social experiences through community, county and state agencies. We have established partnerships with other ministries and organizations whenever possible to perform more complete services.

Secondly, there are coordinated programs to include health-connected services, social activities, emergency home techniques, educational opportunities, free transportation and free income tax filing.
